Roon Island is home to around 1,100 members of the Roon tribe. This island offers beautiful adventures, and unique housing for local residents who live by the sea, unique cultural characteristics, history lovers can visit the iconic Old Church whose Bible was published in 1898.
Tourists will be welcomed by the Bemamun Soren war attraction, a majestic sea dance, accompanying guests from the ship to land on a soul-stirring war boat, creating an unforgettable experience for tourists.
Start by getting off at the Jende village pier, where you will be greeted by village officials, then join a traditional dance and music troupe to walk to the Old Church where local cultural performances take place. At the end of the cultural performance, tourists can join in dancing with local people.
Explore the history of the Old Church and see the Bible published in the Netherlands in 1898, see the prayer stone where European missionaries prayed, and the missionary's grave. From here our tour continues to the village hamlet where you will observe how local residents process sago, make local handicrafts, and traditional fish cultivation systems.
Before returning to the ship, enjoy a coffee break provided by local residents.
